Pimento Cheese Dip/Spread
A delicious, sweet heat pimento cheese dip/spread that’s great served with crackers to topping for hamburgers!
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Dad’s Gourmet Foods (DGF) Candied Jalapeño Relish
- 4 Oz Plain cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 Cup Quality Mayo
- 1/2 Tsp Salt (I prefer sea salt)
- 1/2 Tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 Tsp Ground cayenne pepper
- 3-4 Tbs Diced Pimentos
- 5 Ounces Sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/4 Cup fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- First off, decide how spicy you would like your pimento cheese. The cayenne pepper will heat level, as well as how much DGF Candied Jalapeño Relish you add (this relish does NOT pack a punch…mostly mild) as well as 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne for some extra kick. For a more milk dip, you can use sweet paprika in place of cayenne. NOTE: Did you know paprika is made from the pimento pepper?
- Soften cream cheese and combine with mayo, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and salt. Whip using an electric hand mixer or mash well with a fork until well blended.
- Add DGF Jalapeño Relish and diced pimentos, and freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese to the bowl. Mix well with a fork.
- Allow to chill in the fridge until ready to dive in. It is great the first day and fantastic the next!
- Top with fresh cilantro and serve with an assortment of crackers and veggies. It’s also amazing as a sandwich spread, stuffed into sweet mini peppers, in grilled cheese sandwiches, and melted on burgers too!
- Recipe yields 2-2.5 cups of dip/spread.
